Now recall when I said I’d try to have something to show you guys using my C# progress. That may change. I’m not saying I won’t have something to show you guys. The final product may be a bit different than what I planned for. Progress is progress though.

So the more I get into C#, the more I learn that it’s a lot similar to Java. But, it’s different in a lot of ways too. I’m really liking this language. As for turning out something by the end of November….maybe? We’ll see but I haven’t gotten anything started yet. Don’t expect to much but I’m making progress with the language. I’d be glad to take any ideas anyone has as well for a beginner project. More on my progress once I have something to show everybody!

I decided to go with C#. It seems to be a bit more “advanced” than C++. I don’t know too much about it so I can’t say a lot but it seems to be a much easier language than C++. Maybe that’s why I was drawn to it… Anyway, I’m going through tutorials and whatnot and this language is a lot similar to java. Almost everything I have learned so far was in java with maybe a minor difference here and there. Hopefully I can dish out some sort of useful C# app by the end of…November? We’ll see what happens I suppose. It’s a good way to motivate myself to power through learning the language so I can attempt to make a game.

So I learned a bunch about Halo Pros. There’s a lot and a friend of mine left with a controller full of autographs. I lost first round in the SMBB 2v2s but learned a lot about strategy and teamwork. My friends and I came out of nowhere and wrecked some semi pro team at Halo 3 which was very satisfying. The finals were a blast and I must say that I will be attending another event in the future. Nice job MLG for another great gaming event. I’m glad an area of gaming like MLG exists. It was the best LAN party ever for sure.

So, I never did end up updating from mlg because my phone’s battery died(android on a windows mobile phone = not the best battery consumption). It was a wonderful experience. There were a lot of good players there and the competitive aura was humongous. I tried my hand at the Reach FFA(Free For All) and got knocked out in the first round. I did better than I expected to do getting 5th place out of 8 considering the top 4 advance. I plan on going around playing in the free play areas with Halo and Super Smash Bros. I Got a lot of free things like Beef Jerky and an autographed Instinct poster. Gaming with friends was fun and I am considering flying out to Dallas for the final competition. As I am writing this, I am preparing to go back for day 2. More on this once I get back.

So, MLG’s DC tournament today. Since I happen to live about 20 minutes away from the venue, I have decided to participate in the tournament. Assuming I can get a pass if they are still available at the door, I’ll most likely play Halo Reach FFA. I would like to play in the Super Smash Bros Brawl tournament but I’m undecided. I’m decent at Halo Reach and I’m decent at SSBB as well. I figure I’ll most likely get dominated in both games so I’m doing this purely for fun. I love high level competitive gaming so I’ll have a blast either way. I’m looking forward to going there and I checked the place out last night and it looks nice at night. Here is a picture:

Since I want to become a game developer at some point in life, believe I should start learning a new programming language. I would say I am decently skilled with java but I’m not amazing with it. My next step into the world of programming I figure should be to learn a language used in the industry. I am stuck between deciding on C++ or C#. I read many things saying “C++ is faster but harder to start out with”. Since C++ is more widely used, I think I should start out with it since I already have programming experience. The reason I haven’t decided to use it just yet though is because I hear a lot saying it is better to start out with C#. From what I do know, C# is newer and fairly easier to use. It is also used with Microsoft’s XNA framework and there are tons of tutorials and books written on how to get started in game development with XNA. This is why I am unsure. I’ll make my decision later today and get to work asap on learning which ever language I choose. I’d be glad to take any advice that anyone has to give. Heck, I could just code my game in java……

This marks the 3rd time I’ve tried to set up a website in one night. I guess it’s some sort of an accomplishment? Anyway, on to the important stuff. Welcome to the Relaunch of Sonicrida.com. Sonicrida(that’s me) is the username I use online. Google it and you’ll find tons of stuff that involve me in...
